Welcome to my blog.

Today I decided to start my personal Blog.  A place where I can share my feelings with like-minded people looking for answers to the questions that most humans have asked from the time they were able to translate their thoughts into language.  Though our obvious Religious biases will show up in our attempts to share our personal beliefs, they don’t have to hinder our ability to communicate.  There are specific reasons each of us believe what we do and all of them are important.  My only concern is not what a person believes, but why they believe it!  That is what I would like to know.  It has always amazed me that so many people are unable to express why they believe in something in a manner that doesn’t take on the immediate appearance of being defensive.  It’s almost as if wanting to share your experiences and belief system with others, requires you to first convince them that you are right and therefore they must be wrong.  End of communication!!!

I’m here, (on this planet, not this Blog) to learn and grow.  To test my beliefs against any logical differences of opinion I encounter which cause me to seek answers within my systems resources.  In other words, if I have, for example, declared that I am a Christian, and I have, then the answer to any question presented to me can be found in the resources that convinced me to believe in Christianity in the first place.  However, if I’m unable to find an answer within those confines, then it is logical that I explore other resource options, until I can find an acceptable answer.  Which we all know from experience may never happen.  But that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t continue to search and explore all reasonable avenues.  That is why I am starting this Blog.

The main topics I would like to discuss with people are Religion, Church, Family and Food.  Why these four topics?  These, of course, reflect the areas that I am most passionate about…and this is my Blog after all.

I am hopeful to create a friendly atmosphere where all of us are able to express our concerns, delights, experiences and ideas without being picked apart or made to feel stupid just because we happen to disagree with each other on some subjects. This is new to me, so please be gentle with me in my sometimes awkward attempt to communicate.

To start I am going to talk about a trend I have noticed among Christian Bloggers.  I’ve been looking about the various Blogs here at WordPress, and of course the category of Religion was where I looked first.  I was amazed to find so many people struggling with their own identity within the Christian Community.  Let me share my observations of what I found and why it stimulated me to start this discussion area.

Most of the major religions have a presence; even the atheists are well represented. It’s sad that there is little if any real communication between them.  If any sites want to discuss their beliefs, the roadblock jumps up right away.  “I’m right and you’re wrong” Once again…End of communication!

Most all of us believe what we do because of what we have been taught, either from early childhood or after conversion.  Like I said earlier, it isn’t about what one believes, as much as why we believe what we do.  When seeking the truth within any given subject, we all have a lot to learn.  How do we know that what we are being taught is true?  We test it.  God even said to test Him.  Jesus said that He was the truth.  Test Him.  If your religion says it is the only way.  Test it!  If anything anyone says perks your questioning mind…that’s right…TEST IT!

I have suggested a way all things can and should be tested; through your own systems resources first and then check other sources.  But keep in mind if you blindly accept anything as the absolute truth, you are likely to never be able to convince others that your beliefs are worth considering.  You need to not only understand what you know, but why you know it and why I need to considerate it. No single person or organized group of people have all the answers, but that doesn’t bother me, because I believe that any question presented to God that needs an answer will have one.  That is one of His promises.
